Pastor Darin G. Freeman, Sr.

As God's chosen under-Shepherd, Pastor Darin G. Freeman's divine purpose and passion is to share the God’s redemption power and love to those who are unbelievers and to lead them into a relationship with Christ, and for those who have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, his aim is to teach and edify believers to live a Christ-centered and purposeful life through the use of application of God’s Word; and to train and engage the body of believers to do the work of the ministry where God has called each to serve.

On October 1, 2006, Pastor Freeman became the 12th Pastor of Metropolitan Baptist Church located at 205 Donnally Street, Charleston, WV.  Under Pastor Freeman’s pastoral leadership one of his key focuses is to exhort, encourage, and challenge his members to grow and mature in the faith through the teaching and preaching of God’s Word. Simultaneously, Freeman faithfully works to develop, build, and expand the church’s capacity to do outreach ministry that addresses and provides the needed services in the Charleston area and surrounding areas. He has strategically forged alliances with public and private sectors and community leaders to collaborate on various community initiatives and activities to improve the quality of living for families and children.

Committed to the call as a faithful servant, God has blessed Pastor Freeman and the Metropolitan Family to witness a steady increase in church membership, resulting in expanding its ministries to accommodate and meet the needs of its members. To date, the church now has a website whereby many can view both Sunday morning worship service and Wednesday night bible class, which are streamed live. The church was blessed to have installed computers and three monitors in the sanctuary, and now has a library and bookstore.

In addition, Pastor Freeman founded and serves as CEO/President of the Metropolitan Community Development Corporation (MCDC). Through its non profit, the ministry was able to secure funding to operate a Non Emergency Transportation Service that caters to those who are in need of transportation to and from medical and other ancillary appointments. MCDC also provides other services to the community such as: MCDC Food Cupboard and a Clothes Closet.

Pastor Freeman's educational accomplishments include a Masters of Divinity Degree in Theology from Howard University School of Divinity in Washington, DC.  He also earned a Bachelors of Arts degree in History/Education from Lincoln University in Pennsylvania and Master of Secondary Education in History from Bowie State University.

God has favored and graced Pastor Freeman with the fortitude and wherewithal to employ his acquired knowledge, skills, abilities, experiences, and spiritual gifts in various areas of ministries. He served as the National Commissioner of Evangelism and National Recording Secretary of the Young Pastor's Division of the National Baptist Convention USA, Inc.  While residing in Washington, DC he also served as Treasurer, Third and Second Vice President of the National Capital Baptist Convention of Washington, DC and Vicinity.  He has served as General Secretary of Missionary Minister's Conference of Washington, DC.  He also served for ten years as the Pastor of the New United Baptist Church in Washington, DC.  He was honored by Gospel Today Magazine as one of America's Best Beloved Pastors. Pastor Freeman currently serves as founder of the Mountain State Baptist Convention of WV and Vicinity, Inc. And recently, Pastor Freeman has been invited to the White House along with the National Baptist Convention USA, inc., to meet with the Obama administration.

In addition to all of this, Pastor Freeman has enjoyed preaching the gospel to churches across the Washington, DC metropolitan area and across the nation.  Pastor Freeman has had the honor of preaching, teaching and conducting seminars at a number of institutions of higher learning including Brown University in Rhode Island, the University of Maryland-College Park and his Alma Mater, Lincoln University.

Pastor Freeman is the proud father of Darin Jr. (DJ), who currently attends Virginia Union University, and a daughter, Dana, who is in middle school.

Pastor Freeman has weathered his own personal storms; however one of his own sermons ministers to him daily, "You Can Make It On Broken Pieces."  He is truly a man sent by God who loves all, but above all, he truly loves the Lord because it was He who heard his cry.

His favorite scripture is I John 3:2 "And it doth not yet appear what we shall be, but when He appears we shall be like him."
